5th Annual Griffith Park Navigation Challenge - CANCELLED
September 20, 2020
Sunday
UPDATED 7/31/2020:
We have been notified that all permits through October have been cancelled. No new date has been scheduled so far.
We will have a different starting point this year, allowing those who don't cover the entire course to visit some new areas.
Are you up to the ultimate Griffith Park Trail Challenge? Participants will have a four hour time limit to accrue points by visiting control locations throughout the park. This will be a great physical day out in L.A.'s premier park. Fun for hiking families as well as serious runners and navigators.
Due to the length and physical difficulty of the course, we encourage running with a partner or in a team for safety. Individual entries will, however, be accepted.
Some sort of award will be presented to the top scoring entry in each of the following categories:
- Male Open
- Female Open
- Male Juniors
- Female Juniors
- Male Masters
- Female Masters
- Coed Team
- Mixed Age Team (at least one Junior and one Adult)
Juniors are born in 2000 or later
Masters are born in 1970 or earlier
Male and Female age classes are open to both individual and team entries. Any team must have all members meet the age requirements for Juniors or Masters class.
Maps will be passed out at 9:30am so you have some time to strategize. All participants will mass start at 10:00am and are expected back by 2:00pm. You may start late, but will still need to be back by 2:00pm. Points will be deducted for returning late. Controls will be retrieved beginning at 2:30pm.
Beginner instruction will begin at 9:00am for anyone needing it.
This event will use manual pin-punching. E-punch is not required.
